

The Quail Hollow Herbal Society will present an Herbal Tea Party, Sunday, July 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Manor House. Come and enjoy a nice relaxing afternoon of herbal teas and delights and bring home a beautiful tea cup and saucer! This event is by reservation only. Limited tickets are available for only $15.00 each and may be purchased by mailing your check made payable to QHHS to Mary Lovin, 2615 Trares Road, Mogadore, OH 44260. The Nature Adventures will give participants an opportunity to explore the trails and get tuned into nature. The programs are for all ages. No registration is required. Most will start from the Carriage House Nature Center.
Thursday, June 24 - Woodland Explorers, 10am. The forest is a busy place that is home to many creatures large and small. We will learn about the forest habitat as we hike a woodland trail looking and listening for some of these creatures.
Thursday, July 8 - Explore the Sedge Marsh Trail, 10am. We will be hiking through meadows, forest and wetlands looking for birds, butterflies, frogs and other creatures that live in these diverse habitats.
Sunday, July 25 - Nature Journaling, 2:00pm. Learn how to enhance your nature experiences by visually recording your observations in your yard, garden, or hikes in the park. Bring your own journal or sketchbook if you have them. Some materials will be available. We will be going out on the trails so bring sunscreen and insect repellent.
Friday, August 6 - Night Hike, 8:45pm. How well can you see in the dark? What are the strange sounds you hear? What creatures are active at night? Learn how the darkness changes the way we experience nature. Bring flashlights and insect repellent. Meet at the Shady Lane Parking Area.
Friday, August - Tree Identification ,10am. Don't know an oak from a maple or a pine from a spruce? Learn how to identify many of the common trees found in our yards, parks, and forests. This program is for all ages.
For youngsters 6 and under accompanied by an adult. No registration required. Meet in the Carriage House Nature Center.
Tuesday, June 29 - Bugs in the Garden, 10am. We will check out the gardens around the Manor House and look for butterflies and other creepy crawlies to learn where they live and why they like flowers so much.
Tuesday, July 13 - Wild Neighbors, 10am. Who lives in the trees, under the ground and just outside our homes? We will go looking for animal homes and learn how they live and why they are good neighbors. Then make your own mini-notebook with pictures of the animals you see.
Tuesday, August 3 10am - All About Birds, 10am. Birds are all around us to see and listen to and enjoy. We will look for song birds that live here in the park. Learn about how they build nests and take care of their young and meet Blink the Screech Owl. Then we will make a simple bird feeder that you can take home.
Friday, July 23 - Bat Night, 8 pm. The program will begin with a talk about bat facts, fantasy and folklore, followed by an evening hike to look for and listen to bats as they hunt for food. Meet in the Carriage House Nature Center. Mosquito repellent is recommended. No reservations are required.
Thursday, August 12 - Fish ID,10am. Learn interesting facts about fish and how to identify them through displays, hands on activities. No reservations required. Meet in the Carriage House Nature Center.
Friday, August 13 - Learn to Fish, 10am. Learn the basics of fishing. How to bait your hook, us of a rod and real, and fishing safety. Fishing rods are available for those who do not have their own. Bait will be provided. This program is geared towards youngsters but adults can participate. A valid fishing license is required for anyone 16 years and older. Meet at the Shady Lake Pond. The program is for all ages and will be presented rain or shine. No registration is required.
Sunday, August 15, 2pm. You will have to look up to see many of the flowers along this trail as we walk among plants that reach 8 to 10 feet high. Learn about the prairie eco-system and the wildlife it supports. Learn how to create your own backyard prairie patch. Meet at the Carriage House Nature Center.
Sunday, August 29, 11am - 5pm. Northern Ohio Association of Herpetologists (NOAH) will display reptiles from around the world. There will also be a program about reptiles at 2pm, as well as crafts and other fun activities. Carriage House Nature Center.
Take a look at the center of our galaxy and find out how NASA used their 3 great observatories in space to take the first ever images of this never before seen area.
Find out all the details on this gas giant of our solar system, see its 4 Galilean moons dance around, and find out what happens when its hit by a comet. Programs will start in the Carriage House Nature Center followed by observation at the Manor House Parking Area. Bring binoculars or telescopes if you have them.
Guided tours of the historic 40-room manor at Quail Hollow State Park will be conducted on the following Sundays at 2pm. June 27th, July 18th, August 22nd and September 19th. All tours begin at 2:00pm. Meet in the visitor center of the manor house. Tours are free of charge and no registration is required.
